Loons in Bight
A pair of loons have been in and out of the Deephaven Bight for the last two or three days. Here is a photo of the pair in the Bight:
Loon at Needle Point
I photographed Needle Point looking north to the mountains from an RDC Harbor Master boat in the Deephaven Bight this morning. I thought to myself that this landscape makes a great photograph, but it would be amazing if a loon was in the foreground. Less than two minutes later a loon surfaces right in front of me. Click, click, click. I am amazed by the beauty of Squam Lake and feel very fortunate to see the transitions of the seasons around Squam.

Squam Panorama
Beautiful day on Squam Lake today! Now that I have a couple boats in the water, it is time for a view of Rockywold-Deephaven Camps from the lake. Here is a panorama photo from Flagstaff Point to Bennett Cove.
Here is a photograph of West Rattlesnake and Needle Point. I love the color of the new green leaves and the contrast with the evergreens.
Earth Day Essay Contest Results

Point of View
More beautiful April weather at Squam Lake, although we had a thunderstorm last night that knocked out our internet access temporarily. I took this photo from the cottage Point of View in Deephaven while working on the wireless internet connection.
View from Flagstaff Point
The rain gave way to a beautiful blue sky and warm temperatures on Squam Lake. This is the view through a Red Pine and small White Birch on Flagstaff Point on Thursday Morning, April Fools Day. Happy spring!
View of the Bight
The rain finally cleared up for a bit and I just took this photo of the Bight from the Boathouse.
"We feel rooted within our own families as well as with those special friends we meet at this place. We are regenerated by Squam Lake's natural wonders-- fragrant pines, mountain summits, star-filled night skies, and haunting loon calls, to name a few.
Those of us lucky enough to spend some summer days at RDC share in a restful calm. We are certainly grateful for this unique place of simplicity and peace. I know we take this spirit with us when we leave Squam, counting the days until we can return".
