RDC Former Staff and Current Shareholder…

RDC Former Staff and Current Shareholders,

We are trying to get the word out about a special discounted week for former Rockywold-Deephaven Camps staff and current shareholders.  We would appreciate it if you could share this post with any former staff that you are still in contact with.  Please check out the details below. Thanks for your help with this! We hope to see you here this summer!

Sincerely,

John & Kathy

RDC Staff and Shareholder Appreciation Week

During the week prior to Labor Day (August 27 to September 2), a 20% discounted week, former RDC staff and current RDC shareholders will receive an additional 20% off of their stay. That is a total discount of 40%!

In recent years, occupancy during this week has fallen due to a change in school calendars. In an effort to increase occupancy during this quiet week, we are offering a significant discount to the folks that have contributed to RDC’s success over the years. We sincerely hope you will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.

RDC Ice Harvest

Rockywold-Deephaven Camps (RDC) completed the annual ice harvest from January 10 - 13, 2011.  Here are some photographs by Eric Morse.

RDC Sunfish Regatta

The RDC Sunfish Regatta on August 20th had northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.  The Rec Staff asked that only experienced sailors participate the race and many boats capsized during the race, even the winning boat!  Here is a photo of the downwind leg towards Otter Islands.

Wacky Canoe

Here are some photos of the RDC Wacky Canoe Races on July 15, 2010 by Eric Morse.  Looks like everyone enjoyed the fun in the sun and many were cooled off by the lake.

Squam Art Workshops: the journal

We understand that not everyone can enjoy Squam Art Workshops (SAW), so we are bringing the magic to you!

There is a lovely spirit of connection and collaboration that has emerged from the SAW gatherings at Rockywold-Deephaven Camps.  However, the journal is not about the workshops themselves.  Rather, it is an exploration of the journeys we take, how we can find friendship in the most unexpected places, and the restorative power of natural beauty-- but above all, it is about what happens when you honor your creativity.

The journal is filled with spectacular imagery from beloved photographers including Denise Andrade, Jen Gray, Susannah Conway, Jeanine Caron, and Béatrice Peltre, among many others. You can look forward to 120 pages of terrific essays and wide ranging conversations about navigating the ups and downs of life with humor, grace, or when all else fails, retail therapy.  There's a pop quiz, a kicky craft project, home tours, and so much more including an actual journal within the book itself.

Our hope for this 8" x 8" volume is that it will easily tuck into your bag and accompany you everywhere... on the subway, in the cab, on the train, in the airport, on holiday, etc.  We hope it fills your day with inspiration, fresh perspective and belly laughs.  We trust you're going to like it very much as we created it just for you.

View from Everest Dock

June 30th and summer is in full swing at RDC.  It is another beautiful day on Squam Lake.  Great weather for boating or hiking!

Sunfish

Here is an RDC Sunfish Sailboat sailing by the Deephaven Long House.  The Long House and Rockywold's Greenwood Lodge have rooms that can be rented for any number of nights.  You can call RDC at 603-968-3313 to reserve a room and experience the beauty of Squam Lake.

"We feel rooted within our own families as well as with those special friends we meet at this place. We are regenerated by Squam Lake's natural wonders-- fragrant pines, mountain summits, star-filled night skies, and haunting loon calls, to name a few.

Those of us lucky enough to spend some summer days at RDC share in a restful calm. We are certainly grateful for this unique place of simplicity and peace. I know we take this spirit with us when we leave Squam, counting the days until we can return".
