RDC on NH Chronicle
For those of you that missed it, RDC was featured, this month, on a New Hampshire television show called NH Chronicle. Click Here to watch the video on WMUR's website.
Cottage Availability
For folks that haven't made it to RDC this summer, or would like to come back for a second visit, we do have a few openings in the coming weeks and some significant discounts for the week leading up to Labor Day! This week, July 28 to August 4, we have two 4 person cottages available, Park and Shadow Pines.
The week of August 4 to 11 we have two 5 person cottages, House of Tudor and Bell Tower; and Ewing a 4 person cottage. August 11 to 18 a 3 person cottage called Hamilton is open. The week of August 18 to 25 recent cancellations have opened up two 2 person cottages in Rockywold, Shelter and Backlog, as well as Park a 4 person cottage and House of Tudor a 5 person cottage.
The week prior to Labor Day starts off very busy at RDC. We have a large wedding that will come close to filling all of our cottages the nights of the August 25 and 26. However, starting Monday, August 27, we have many lakeside cottages available for rent. That week, and for the remainder of the season, weekly cottage rentals are discounted 20%. Additionally, shareholders and former staff receive an extra 10% discount from August 25 to September 3!

Five Star’s Blog
Here is a photo of the July 4th parade showing the Grand Marshals in one of RDC's Utility Golf Carts. We receive excellent support from Five Star Golf Carts in Laconia, NH and they recently wrote a great blog post about RDC. Here is an excerpt of the article:
"Imagine a place far from ringing cellphones, rush-hour traffic, and the concerns of the modern world. A place where clean air, cool water and relaxation are the norm. You are likely imagining something like Rockywold-Deephaven Camps (RDC)."

Bald Eagle on Squam Lake
On May 2nd, Iain MacLeod, Executive Director of the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, scoped the Little Loon eagle nest from Rockywold and confirmed a hatch. He reported that he could see an adult tearing up prey and offering morsels to unseen chick (or chicks). He guessed that they would have hatched within the last week or so.
While watching the eagles, he also spotted a pair of Merlins courting at the end of Deephaven point, about a quarter of a mile from where they nested in 2009 and 2010 and closer to where they nested in 2008.

View from Rattlesnake
I hiked Rattlesnake yesterday and took some photos of the "ice status" in our area.
Some open water around Five Finger Point! Nice break headed towards Deephaven.
A little opening up at the end of the bight.
Another view of the break from Five Finger Point to Deephaven's eastern shore. Still plenty of ice out there!
"We feel rooted within our own families as well as with those special friends we meet at this place. We are regenerated by Squam Lake's natural wonders-- fragrant pines, mountain summits, star-filled night skies, and haunting loon calls, to name a few.
Those of us lucky enough to spend some summer days at RDC share in a restful calm. We are certainly grateful for this unique place of simplicity and peace. I know we take this spirit with us when we leave Squam, counting the days until we can return".
