Ice Breaking Up at Pine Needle Point

The ice is starting to break up on Squam Lake on March 16th, which is about a month earlier than usual.  The ice has opened up from Deephaven to Otter and Birch Islands.  The boating season will be here soon!  Here is a photograph from Flagstaff Point looking...

Beautiful Morning at Ark

The weather at Squam has been unseasonably warm for mid March. The past five days have been warm with clear blue skies and the ice along the Deephaven shore is starting to break up. Here is a photograph from Wednesday morning (March 10th) at Ark.

Looking out from Honeymoon

Here is a view of Squam from inside Honeymoon cottage in Rockywold.  Mud season came early this year and most of the snow has melted.  Time for maple sugaring!

Here is a view of the Squam Range from West Water.  The granite boulder creates a nice foreground.  Gotta love Squam Lake in the winter!
