Thank you to all the participants who submitted essays in the RDC Earth Day Essay Contest. It was very difficult to pick the top 5 essays and we really appreciate the effort and creativity of all the writers!
To celebrate Earth Day 2010, Rockywold-Deephaven Camps (RDC) is offering a full-week stay in one of its beautiful cottages (for a party of five). To enjoy a fabulous vacation at this most lovely lakeside resort, all you have to do is submit, in 140 words or less, a winning essay to the following question:
WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR BEST MEMORIES OR MOMENTS IN NATURE?
Essays can be serious, funny, charming, sad, inspiring, poetic or all of the above. Each entry will be judged by the team at RDC who will choose 5 semi-finalists.
Then, each finalist will post their essay at their blog with a link to the RDC website where open voting will take place. The essay that receives the most votes by Tuesday, May 4th 2010 (12 noon EDT) is the winner. Second place is also in for a treat: a weekend for two at RDC. And, third place will receive a gift bag filled with RDC booty.
So– let the games begin, yes?

More beautiful April weather at Squam Lake, although we had a thunderstorm last night that knocked out our internet access temporarily. I took this photo from the cottage Point of View in Deephaven while working on the wireless internet connection.
The rain gave way to a beautiful blue sky and warm temperatures on Squam Lake. This is the view through a Red Pine and small White Birch on Flagstaff Point on Thursday Morning, April Fools Day. Happy spring!
