View of the Bight
The rain finally cleared up for a bit and I just took this photo of the Bight from the Boathouse.

I went kayaking last Thursday and here is a short video for those of you who have never seen the ice go out on Squam Lake. Happy paddling!
This is the Deephaven Main Dock high dive as ice breaks up in the Bight.
It won’t be too long before kids are jumping into the lake, but right now it would be a cold swim.
Gunnar Berg, the mastermind of CyberPine Wireless Networks, which provides internet access to Rockywold-Deephaven Camps was repairing the antenna on the Red Hill Firetower yesterday (March 16th) and took this photo of the Squam ice going out. Most of the islands are ice free, although Bennet Cove and Sandwich Bay are still covered with ice.
The ice is starting to break up on Squam Lake on March 16th, which is about a month earlier than usual. The ice has opened up from Deephaven to Otter and Birch Islands. The boating season will be here soon! Here is a photograph from Flagstaff Point looking across the Bight to Pine Needle Point. Eric
The weather at Squam has been unseasonably warm for mid March. The past five days have been warm with clear blue skies and the ice along the Deephaven shore is starting to break up. Here is a photograph from Wednesday morning (March 10th) at Ark.
Here is a view of Squam from inside Honeymoon cottage in Rockywold. Mud season came early this year and most of the snow has melted. Time for maple sugaring!
Here is a view of the Squam Range from West Water. The granite boulder creates a nice foreground. Gotta love Squam Lake in the winter!

Squam Lake ice out was declared on March 23rd, almost two weeks earlier than the previous record of April 4th. In the last 30 years anyhow.
