He reported that he could see an adult tearing up prey and offering morsels to unseen chick (or chicks). He guessed that they would have hatched within the last week or so.

While watching the eagles, he also spotted a pair of Merlins courting at the end of Deephaven point, about a quarter of a mile from where they nested in 2009 and 2010 and closer to where they nested in 2008.

Rockywold Main Dock view south - plenty of ice, but I heard it's a lot less than yesterday! The lake water level is right to the top edge of the dock. If the Morningside dock was in, this is where it would be - almost ice free! Deephaven Main Dock view towards the west - some ice & snow still in sight View of the Bight from Deephaven Main Dock towards the north and Rattlesnake Mountain - looks like Deephaven is winning the ice -out race!
